Reliable, free antivirus software?

I'm currently paying for McAfee. But it seems silly if there is FREE, reliable antivirus stuff out there. Any suggestions? Also, does antivirus software normally include pop-up blocker? I have pop-up blocker under my "tools." Is that a separate deal?

AVG is the best free anti virus program I know of. You can download it from www.grisoft.com

An excellent pop up blocker is Popup Stopper, which you can download from www.panicware.com

While we're on the subject of security, another essential is a good anti spyware program. I would recommend AdAware from www.lavasoft.com
I use AVG, which has a free version and a full version that cost money. It works for me, and I believe it includes popup blockers.

Try Virusbuster, it's free and not resource hungry and good enough for everyday needs.
Get Avast! Home Edition, it's much better than McAfee and it's free. It does not slow down your system either.

I have had viruses with McAfee, Norton, Panda, and Kapersky but the one I that I have and have had for years and never received a virus since is AVG, this immediately detects when a Trojan gets on your computer and it heals it or deletes it that fast.
