Does anyone know a free antivirus in which I can install? Is there a free one that can protect my computer for atleast a year from adware %26 spyware? I need a very protective %26 trustful one. A new antivirus from March 2008.

I have a close friend who purchased a new laptop and did not install antivirus. She told me that her HDD, on boot the systems says the HDD is going to die.

I installed Avira free, ran the scan and found over 500 trojan virusas and Avira destroyed them all in one scan.

I would like to begin afresh. Just a stereotyped Question and Answer will not do. There should be a great amount of food for thought in our writing. Otherwise nobody will recognize our creativity, nor will our credibility be established. After all we are to think about the conventional Yahoo!! Nay, Yahoo! is an activist.

Initially, Great Yahoo! will surely help us writing a book on philosophy or literature. I do not know how many of us prepare to regain our lost name and fame as a human being.

Frankly, neither we love to write on a great topic today nor like to appreciate any good and great idea. Precisely, my writing will be confined to my realization on the Philosophy of life of Ma-Mahajnan, a matchless genius. May I be criticized?

Should you however be interested, I would request you to concentrate in what I say. We may be divisive in our opinion. It does not matter much. Diversity of observation broadens outlook. Let me express my thought. Would you add to it your sequence?

most virus are spread through IE. IE is not a safe browser. you should use a more secure browser to protect your PC from virus.

i recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. firefox can block any any popup and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE browser. as you know, most of virus spread throught internet and webpage.

besides, firefox is much smaller than IE, so it run faster than IE.

Avast AV is the best free AV out at this time. I use it and have ever since it came out a couple years ago. I ditched AVG, which has gone down hill FAST for it.

Personally, I would make the purchase after trying the program for free. That way you can see what works for you. I also want the extra product support - 24/7 in some cases - and the virus definitions that come with the paid versions vs most of the free ones that I have tried. Some of the free versions do not protect my computers totally.

Kapersky is GREAT and has a 30 day free trial - I use the Enterprise version because I have 5 computers on my home network.!

I highly recommend Trend Micro's PC-cillin. I have seen it detect and remove viruses that AVG, Norton and McAfee have all missed.

Actually, the Free AVG Software is available for 7.5 but it will not install on a server. If you are on 7.1, it will tell you that software will be expiring but you could go to website (a non domain computer could see the free website)

Go back to grisoft.com (home of AVG), you will indeed find they have a free version out there. I've heard lots of folks use it. Doesn't have all the bells and whistles of AVG. No auto update. Also look into a free anti-virus (open-source, long time to download, and sort of long time to download updates) called clam. (You'll find that clam also imposes itself as a popup logo whenever you run Outlook, if you do.) Two possibilities. And go see majorgeeks.com for free software, and scan yahoo answers here, there was an answer in the past two days (an answer on unexplained popups, if I recall) that gave intense details for antivirus info websites.

Avast is where it is at. I have heard and used AVG before but Avast is awesome. Not a memory hog. Customizable and it has a light software firewall. I run it on all my pc's at home and work.
